My VGMA performance means a lot to me —Kofi Owusu Peprah

Gospel singer Kofi Owusu Peprah was part of the Gospel All Stars who performed Piesie Esther’s W’aye Me Yie song as the opening act at this year’s Vodadone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Saturday, May 6.

And the Matwen hitmaker has disclosed that it was a good feeling to have performed on such a huge platform that have birthed many Ghanaian international acts.

“It was quite awe-inspiring not just for me but my team to be on such a huge platform. Let’s not pretend about it, VGMA is a huge platform and quite pertinent to Ghana’s creative space. It means a lot to me and my brand.

“The VGMA platform isnot only a big deal for industry players but music enthusiasts who believe it mirrors the progress of the sector,” he stated.

Kofi Owusu Peprah's mood might be justified considering that a similar performance by Joe Mettle in 2016 shot up his popularity at the time.

Indeed, some industry folks at the time noted how Joe Mettle’s VGMA performance and subsequent exposure was influential in earning him the ultimate Artiste of the Year the following year.

With the firm belief that his father, Rev George Owusu Mensah’s coaching have had a positive influence on his flourishing music ministry, Kofi did a rendition of his father’s song, Matwen titled The Father in his honour.

Since then, Kofi Owusu Peprah has come out with other songs such as Amen, Big God and a Worship Medley which are all doing well after his debut, Yesu Nyame Ba in 2018.
