Emmanuel TV to exit DStv, GOTV, and other pay-TV services on January 17th.

Following the allegations, revelations, and confessions surrounding the late TB Joshua on the BBC, Multichoice has thrown a curveball into the mix by announcing their intention to remove the TV channel of TB Joshua’s church, intensifying the controversy in the digital realm.

According to the announcement made by MultiChoice, starting January 17, 2024, the SCOAN TV network, Emmanuel TV, which was broadcast on DStv channel 390 and established by the renowned Prophet TB Joshua, the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), will no longer be available on MultiChoice’s DStv, GOtv, and other pay-TV services.

The notification on DStv read, “Dear viewer, please note that Emmanuel TV will exit on the 17, 2024. Thank you for watching.”

Apart from Emmanuel TV’s departure from MultiChoice, it has also been reported that the channel will no longer be available on StarSat and other pay-TV platforms.

Since the death of TB Joshua in June 2021, Emmanuel TV has faced challenges in producing new content and has relied heavily on broadcasting old material. Following the founder’s passing, Pastor Evelyn Joshua, his wife, has taken over the leadership of SCOAN.

In addition to these changes, Emmanuel TV’s exit from DStv coincides with a controversial three-part documentary produced by the BBC.

This documentary alleges that TB Joshua committed heinous acts and sexual crimes against his followers. The BBC conducted a thorough investigation, interviewing over 30 former members and workers of SCOAN.

The series exposed the late preacher’s hidden lifestyle, revealing stories of rape, abuse, deception, and staged healings. Sources claim that, despite being aware of the accusations, the church never addressed them, allowing more than 20 years to pass without any action being taken.

The documentary revealed how SCOAN concealed the truth from its members regarding the 2014 collapse of one of the church’s guesthouses.

Members were repeatedly shown a misleading video of the building with an aircraft flying over it, creating a false narrative. These revelations have undoubtedly played a role in Emmanuel TV’s decision to discontinue its presence on various pay-TV platforms.

After the BBC released the findings of their investigation into the late TB Joshua, SCOAN reacted by rejecting the documentary as baseless, highlighting that the people interviewed had no connection to the church.

In an official statement supported by Dare Adejumo, the director of public affairs, the church has misspelt any misconceptions that may have arisen from the BBC report.
