Prophet Kofi Oduro enumerates Churches that should be closed down by the Government.
On August 16, 2023, Prophet Kofi Oduro, the Head Pastor and Founder of Alabaster International Ministries, made a bold call for the government of Ghana to shut down certain churches. In a passionate address, he argued that some churches are engaging in practices that are not only unchristian but also harmful to their congregants.
Prophet Oduro pointed out that these churches are involved in absurd rituals, such as mixing concoctions with items like pomades and fragrances, which they then sell to their followers under the guise of possessing special powers. He dismissed these actions as nothing more than "jokes" performed in the name of God, designed to deceive the vulnerable.
Although he refrained from naming specific churches, Prophet Oduro vividly described the troubling behaviors he believes warrant immediate government intervention. He criticized church leaders who engage in foolish activities, like lying on the floor and dancing to secular music during services, questioning what kind of example this sets for those seeking spiritual guidance. He expressed concern that such antics only promote "silly lifestyles" and fail to offer meaningful teachings to those who are not yet born again.
Prophet Oduro's critique extended to the presence of items like Schnapps and fly whisks (bodua) in church auditoriums, practices he views as inappropriate and indicative of a broader problem. He did not hold back in blaming the government for allowing these churches to operate unchecked. He contrasted the situation in Ghana with Rwanda, where, he noted, the government requires anyone wishing to start a church to have a first degree, a policy he believes ensures a higher level of discernment and responsibility among church leaders.
In his concluding remarks, Prophet Oduro labeled these problematic churches as criminal organizations that should be shut down immediately, urging the government to take swift action to protect the spiritual well-being of the nation.
